NEWS // LOTUS RETURNING TO LE MANS?
According to our friends at 0-60 Magazine, Lotus is planning to enter a new prototype into this years 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car, which will be designed by Paolo Catone, is only part of Lotus’s racing plans. Along with Le Mans, the British automaker is planning a return to GT2 racing, as well as entering cars in the GP2 and GP3 championships through 2014 and continuing their current involvement in IndyCar and GT4 racing. NEWS // LOTUS UNVEILS EVORA CUP CAR & ONE MAKE SERIES
With the Lotus Evora now in production, the British automaker has announced they will be creating a new iteration of their mid-engined sportscar, a FIA GT4 spec Evora Cup car. Powered by a punched out 4.0-liter V6, the new Evora Cup car will be fitted with a dry sump oiling system, a six-speed Cima sequential gearbox and is said to produce 395hp. Additional upgrades include six-pot calipers, adjustable dampers and a curb-weight some 440 pounds lighter than the road car.
Additionally, Lotus has announced they plan to launch a single make Evora Cup, with events around Europe and a €100,000 prize fund setup for the 2010 season. Available for £120,000, we expect to see a number of new Lotus Evora Cup cars on track when the GT season gets underway in Europe.
