Say hello to the Ariel Atom 500 V8, an open wheel, exo-caged, 500bhp street legal missle. Running to sixty in 2.5 seconds and 0-100 in under six, the Atom 500 is powered by a 2.4-liter V8 that produces 500bhp at 10,000 RPM (coutresy of a roots type surpercharger) and weighs in just under 1,000 lbs. Additionally, the new Atom 500 has a power to weight ratio (1000bhp per ton) that is unmatched by any other production car to date. Featuring a handful of ‘options’ that will set this Atom apart from others, 0-60 Magazine is reporting that Ariel will produce only 25 examples of their V8 powered monster, with a price tag somewhere in the 150-200k range.
