CTD IN SHANGHAI // THE 2009 AUTO SHANGHAI SHOW

We spent the last few days of our trip to Shanghai, wandering shoulder to shoulder with thousands of others automotive fans at the 2009 Auto Shanghai. The only sanctioned automotive show in the People's Republic of China, Auto Shanghai featured nearly a hundred exhibitors spread across a few thousand square feet of exposition space. All of the Asian automakers were well represented, however, General Motors and Ford both had rather large exhibits as well. On hand at Ford's exhibit was their BTCC Focus as well as a handful of other small, fuel efficient hatchbacks. Not being exhibited however, was the 2010 Ford Mustang...

Next door to the Ford exhibit, Volvo had unveiled their S60 concept. Featuring a set of rear sliding doors, a newly remodeled front fascia and an upgraded powerplant, we certainly liked what we saw.

Also on display was AC Schnitzer's E92 M3. Fitted with an upgraded aero package, wheels and powerplant, the AC Schnitzer M3 looks to provide an alternative to the Dinan tuned BMW's.

Ferrari's booth saw visitors lined up five or six deep just to get a glimpse at their recently released 430 Scuderia convertible.

Along with their 599 GTB, F2008 and 430 Scuderia, Ferrari brought out their new California hardtop convertible.

Jason Castriota and Stile Bertone unveiled their 'Project M' supercar to an expected crowd of over 600,000 visitors.

To be honest, I have no idea what this is, or for that matter, who makes it. The auto show was an endless display of design and innovation, crammed neatly into four buildings with thousands of people in attendance, and after nearly eight hours of wandering, I neglected to stop long enough to figure out what exactly I was looking at ... So, if you have any idea what this is, feel free to leave a comment and inform us.
