The SBS have their top security base at Royal Marines Hamworthy, and their work in combat zones is shrouded in secrecy. Stephens was a keen enduro rider and was a member of the Royal Marines Poole Enduro Club. 130 riders from across the South gathered to pay their respects with a minutes silence prior to the start of the 3 hour "Hare and Hounds" type event.
Victory around the gruelling six mile course went to Nick Life from Totnes in Devon.
