After news that Ferrari would be running a modified rear diffuser in addition an entirely new chassis (the F60-B), expectations were high as Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen looked to qualify within the top ten.

Following a spectacular victory in Shanghai and a podium finish in Bahrain, Sebastian Vettel proved once again that his success thus far was no fluke, qualifying second overall.

Vettel's Red Bull teammate Mark Webber ran hard through three rounds of qualifying, finishing the afternoon fifth overall.

Timo Glock escaped Q2 elimination on his final lap and managed to finish the afternoon in sixth, just behind the Red Bull of Mark Webber.

Following his third place finish in Bahrain, Toyota's Jarno Trulli looked strong all afternoon finishing seventh just behind teammate Timo Glock.

After crossing the start-finish line with just two seconds remaining in Q3, Jenson Button matched the speed of both Barrichello and Vettel through the first two sectors and managed to finish the lap 0.1 seconds ahead of his Brawn GP teammate. With yet another pole position, Button now looks to capture his fourth victory of the season.
