MORE MUSCLE // 2010 SHELBY GT500

With updated body lines, a bit more horsepower and that vintage aesthetic, whats not to like about Ford’s latest Mustang variation... Well, sometimes a normally aspirated, 300bhp V8 just isn’t enough. Sometimes what you need is force fed, racing striped and limited edition. Enter the 2010 Shelby GT500 coupe.

A supercharged, DOHC 5.4-liter V8, producing 540bhp and 510-lb/ft of torque resides beneath the bonnet, with power being transferred to the rear wheels through a six speed Tremec gearbox. With an updated 3.55 gear ratio (the GT500KR housed 3.73 gearing), the new Shelby is expected to sprint to sixty in less than four seconds. Increased fuel economy (an additional 2mpg over the ‘09 model) as well as an updated interior, braking system and clutch setup will set the 2010 model apart from its predecessors.

Welcome changes to our (my) favorite muscle car. Now, to sort out a test drive... // 01.01.2009
