Now, don't take this the wrong way, as I was one of the first to proclaim my love for Subaru's hatchback'd STi, but as a rally car, one that competes against the likes of Mitsubishi's EVO X, Citroen's C4 and the new Focus RS, the STi should be a sedan. And while Subaru claims their new STi sedan will not be any faster than its wagon-like counterpart (the added weight over the rear wheels increases traction), we have to assume the reduced weight and massive rear spoiler will at the very least increase on-road performance and certainly improves the aesthetic of what is otherwise a crap looking car, again, in my opinion.

Oddly enough, it's only a couple bumper lights away from looking like a Lancer Evo IV-VI...
ReplyDeleteI like it!!! Quite a lot, surprisingly, as I've never liked this generation in 4-door form.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Bry's Evo comment - from the rear, that wing looks like it belongs on Tommi Makinen's car, not Petter Solberg's...
ReplyDeleteI've actually grown fond of the hatch STi (with the exception of those godawful taillights), and this is going to take some getting used to. The widebody look doesn't seem to suit the sedan as well, but I guess we'll see. Though to be really certain, I'll need to see it on 15" rally rims with a light pod up front.
