“We’ve got the dispensation from the FIA, which is fantastic, because we are not based in Europe. We are the only team that does have a test circuit outside Europe, so it is totally logical for us that we run the car the first time in the US at the beginning of February.”
The same facility used by the IndyCar Series, Barber Motorsports Park is a 17-turn race circuit, some 400 miles from the USF1 headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina. Opened in 2003, Barber is one of the newest racing facilities in the country and features a great deal more gradient than a typical F1 circuit. At 2.38 miles in length, Barber is also a great deal shorter than most of the F1 circuits currently on the calendar.
The current lap record at Barber is 1:09.455, set by Will Power during an IRL test session. Assuming all goes as planned, USF1's 2010 entry should easily best the previous lap record, if not, I fear USF1 fans are in for a long season...

Agreed wholeheartedly. If the car doesn't beat the current lap record by at least 2 or 3 seconds, the car and team are doomed!!
