Rumor has it Ford Racing will release a 2010 Boss 302R Mustang, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the original Boss 302’s 1970 Trans-Am championship, and continuing their tradition of factory supported motorsports with yet another one-off Mustang. No images of the car have been released, however we assume it will look similar to the FR500S and FR500C. Built for ‘off-road’ use only, production of the 2010 Boss 302R will be limited to just 50 cars, with a base price of $79,000. Two versions will be made available, with a base package intended to compete in both SCCA and NASA classes, while the upgraded version is rumored to be Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series legal. The Boss 302R will be powered by a newly developed four-valve 5.0-liter V8 said to make 400hp. A six speed transmission will help put power to pavement, while a race-spec suspension, brakes and an abundance of safety equipment, including a full roll cage, seats and harnesses, will complete the package. The KONI spec 302R is rumored to have a sealed high-output race engine, seam-welded body, fuel cell, a data acquisition system and will run you more like $129,000 // [comment]
